Dr. Judi L. Malone

I am a mother, a wife, and a lifelong Albertan. I am also a psychologist, educator, activist, and leader. I have witnessed our province grow and change and I know the innovation and resilience of Albertans. It is a passion of mine to understand people and how to impact change. Advocacy and influence have reinforced my appreciation for the change potential – within Edmonton-Ellerslie and in Alberta’s Legislature.

Why a Nomination Race?

I have much in common with Edmonton-Ellerslie community members, and NDP supporters, who believe in the potential for positive change. We benefit from living in a democracy and nothing speaks to democracy like voice, choice, and becoming involved.

Nomination races helps Albertans to clarify what we want, what we believe in, and what kind of future we want to see in our community. I am intrigued by why more people don’t step up and become involved.

If I am elected to represent Edmonton Ellerslie as their MLA, I will be the voice of change. I will commit myself totally as a passionate advocate for mental health support, diversity, the underserved, and for our constituency members.

I acknowledge that Edmonton-Ellerslie is on Metis Region 4 and Treaty 6 Territory traditional lands. This is a traditional gathering place for diverse indigenous peoples, including the ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐃ (Cree), iitsi’poyi (Blackfoot), Mitchif Piyii (Métis), Na-Dené (Dene), îyârhe Nakodabi (Stoney-Nakota Sioux), Nahkawininiwak (Saulteaux), and many others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to influence our vibrant community. This assertion is one small way to strengthen the awareness of the presence and rights of Indigenous Peoples and to recognize the history of colonialism, its impact on the first peoples of this land, and the need for meaningful change toward reconciliation.
